Meet your hosts
Your Hosts, Rob and Susie
Having returned home from many years living abroad we searched for a rural haven and driving up the drive to Ranginui for the first time we realized we had found it. Ranginui has a tranquility that infuses this magical place, that allowed us to reconnect with nature, to unwind and to breath. Ranginui also energized us, and we have spent the last six years developing and creating our home and garden to help fulfil our dream of a rural haven.
Now it is time for us to share it. Our wish is to provide a place where you, our guests, can sink into the tranquility and reconnect with the beauty of nature. A place where you will be tempted simply curl up with a book from the house library in front of the fire, or rest and contemplate life in the garden with a glass of rose or cup of tea in hand.
However, Ranginui Retreat offers more too. Guests can hike in the beautiful Tararua Ranges; swim or play tennis, croquet or petanque onsite; checkout local vineyards; fly fish with a guide in the local rivers; explore the beaches at Riversdale and Castlepoint; or even take a helicopter ride into the back country or to fly over the wonderful Wairarapa. As night falls, snuggle up in an Adirondack chair by the brazier and gaze in awe at the Sky Father’s amazing display of stars.
However, guests choose to spend their time, we want Ranginui Retreat to always be a place to unwind and escape from the hassle and noise of a busy life.
With our two trusty helpers, Coco a labradoodle (‘head of security’) and Biskit a briard (‘chief guest liaison officer’) we look forward to welcoming you to share our rural haven.
Our logo
Our logo is inspired by a photo of the property which truly represents the nature of the Ranginui Retreat and the hospitality and comfort we offer.
It is made up of a combination of 3 main elements - The property + the artichoke flower (it represents abundance, comfort, food, farm to table) + the letter ‘R’ -the initials of the brand name.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ranginui Retreat soon and sharing this magical place and living our logo with you.
Our aim is to spoil you. We invite you to explore, unwind, rejuvenate and enjoy the wonderful countryside which is the Wairarapa and the rural retreat that we call home.
